Patients staying at the new Dr Julie Zrna Centre will have the comfort of home and a tidy kitchen thanks to a generous donation by Devilee’s Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
The Mildura business has donated 10 Technika dishwashers for the 10 accommodation apartments which are nearing completing on Thirteenth Street.
Owners Peter and Fiona Devilee said they are proud to support the centre.
“We understand how challenging it can be for individuals and families to travel long distances for cancer treatment—often leaving behind their homes, communities, and even beloved pets during an already stressful and difficult time,” Mrs Devilee said.
She said the project would provide much-needed comfort and reassurance, by ensuring patients who are undergoing radiation treatment at the Mildura Health Icon Cancer Centre have access to a dedicated accommodation facility, close by.
“We also chose to support this initiative because of the Mildura Health Foundation’s commitment to using local suppliers and delivering a truly unique and community focused accommodation offering,” Mrs Devilee said.
“Their tireless work to ensure this project reflects the needs of our regional area and supports our local economy, deeply aligns with our values.
“We’re honoured to contribute to a project that will make such a valuable difference in the lives of those facing cancer treatment in our region.”
Mildura Health Foundation Corporate Secretary Cheryl Rix said having the support of local businesses such as Devilee’s made all the difference, and their generosity was much appreciated.
“We want to make sure our guests can walk into the apartments and immediately feel like they’re at home and have all the appliances they need – Devilee’s has helped us make this happen and we can’t thank them enough,” Ms Rix said.
